Peace, Love and Appreciation
As we round out the last few days of 2015, I feel compelled to reflect on the past year. Truth be told, I do this every year at this time. For some strange reason crossing the threshold from December 31st to January 1st is like no other day’s 12:00 Midnight to 12:01 AM transition. It’s your chance to make it right- wipe the slate clean, fix your flaws, get on the right path. We may wake up every day thinking today is the day I am going to … (fill in with your own personal resolution), but unlike every other day, starting the first day of a brand new year gives us a sense of confidence, an excitement for the challenge ahead.
Let’s face it, statistics and probably our own track records indicate that only a small percentage of us will actually stick with our resolutions this year. You don’t have to be a statistic. I urge you to set yourself up for success this 2016. Be thoughtful when making a resolution- remember to balance an acceptance for who you are with truly modifiable behaviors. Establish some short-term goals with the big picture goal in mind. This allows you the opportunity for success and often times that sense of accomplishment is the best motivator for continued progress. Surround yourself with supportive people. Share your resolutions with your friends and loved ones and ask them to help you achieve your goals. http://www.forbes.com/sites/nancyanderson/2015/12/26/six-ways-to-make-your-new-years-resolutions-stick-in-2016/2/
As I examine my life events of 2015 I am acutely aware of how blessed I am, as cliche as it sounds. In this industry, where death literally surrounds us, the fragility of life is so prominent we become immune to this reality. While the daily heartbreaking stories should serve as constant reminders to be thankful, gratitude is often overlooked. Our solace is that gratitude IS felt by the families that we are able to serve for you. It is an honor to help you help family members receive comfort and peace.
As the new year commences we look forward to another year of partnering with you and your families. Cheers to a happy, healthy and prosperous 2016!
